This recipe is my mom’s. We’ve had this at Thanksgiving for as long as I can remember. And now I make it and my kids enjoy it even more frequently. Because pi day right? March 14th! I am thankful for family. I am thankful for food. And I am thankful for you! I hope you enjoy this recipe.
1 large package Jello Cook & Serve Chocolate Pudding
2 3/4 cups milk
2 Tablespoons butter
1/3 cup Guittard milk chocolate chips
1 baked pie shell- I like Marie Calendar’s
For the crust:
Follow the Directions on your premade pie crust. OR if you are amazing, then make you own! I haven’t mastered pastry pie crusts yet. Totally on my to-do list!
For the Filling:
In a medium saucepan, combine milk and pudding. Add butter.
Stirring constantly, cook over medium heat. When the butter melts, the add the chocolate chips.:)
Continue stirring until it comes to a complete boil. Then remove pan from heat and allow to cool for 10 minutes-stirring it gently every 3-4 minutes.
After the 10 minutes, then pour it into a your prepared(already cooked) pie crust.
Oh it looks so GOOD! Continue to let it cool on the counter. Then when it’s cooled down, put in the fridge.
If you put it in the fridge and it’s not quite all the way cooled, you can get some condensation on the plastic wrap or whatever you cover you pie with. Just check on it after a little bit(30min-1 hour) and wipe that off. If the moisture falls onto your pie, it’s ok, it just makes that part of your pie a “lighter” chocolate color. No worries, just add your whipped cream before serving!:)
This is my husband’s favorite pie that I make. And it’s so easy! I love it when my family has favorites that are easy.
I hope that your Thanksgiving is full of yummy food and good memories.
Life is Good. Share the Good.
