Just Because We Can- Doesn’t Mean We Should

This topic weighs heavy on my mind. Ever since I heard of the state of New York’s abortion decision. There are so many of us who have cried endless tears waiting to conceive a baby and give it the ultimate gift as we partner with God…that of the gift of LIFE. And I fully believe LIFE begins in the womb. I know many who read this blog feel the same way. But if by chance someone happens upon this blog who is facing this choice, I must write how I feel about this topic.

I have thought of this topic in the context of choices for lots of things. Just because we can steal, lie, kill, use vulgarity, hurt others, doesn’t mean we should do it. Just because we can speed through a school zone, cheat on an exam, not give a full days’ work for a full day’s pay, doesn’t mean we should.

Whether you believe in God or not, you can understand that these things I just mentioned are not the best choice. Yes, we can choose them, and many do, but that doesn’t mean we should. This bodes true for abortion. I am grateful for President Trump’s words that all are created in God’s image. I am grateful to know his position. But, as we all know in this country, getting rules changed is much harder than saying words. So that leaves it up to us to Choose the Right, even when others may scoff at us or make us to feel that such a choice hurts no one. That is false in every degree possible! The choice of abortion leaves scars for the woman and ends a LIFE. ABORTION IS TAKING A LIFE.

Chrysalis of various types of butterflies

When a butterfly is in the chrysalis, we can’t see what is happening, but LIFE IS HAPPENING! Through these changes it doesn’t look like a butterfly yet, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not a butterfly! It’s growing and changing into one of God’s most beautiful creatures! And so is that little baby inside a mother’s womb. Please give that baby LIFE.

I have shared a few stories on adoption. Adoption can be hard, can be scary, but it can also be BEAUTIFUL! I wish I could speak from my own personal experience, but I haven’t felt that as my path yet, although I have prayed and sought direction on that many times over the years as we waited for our rainbow babies.

If you have a few minutes, I would encourage you to read these previous Wednesday Stories:

My sweet sister-in-law Amy and her husband Sam have now adopted two sweet little boys from China after having 3 three beautiful tow-head girls.

My dear neighbor Tori and her husband have now adopted four beautiful kids from China who have down syndrome. And seriously, they are the cutest kids. She and her husband did this after their biological kids were mostly grown. It’s never too late to adopt. These kids are waiting for their forever family.

These are the first three, the fourth was adopted just a few months ago!

If my words reach even one person contemplating abortion, I plead with you to reconsider. No matter what has happened to bring you to the point you are with a pregnancy not desired, put those thoughts aside. Focus on that tiny LIFE inside you. Please give that little LIFE a chance to learn and grow and do many good things in this world. Reach out to a doctor, nurse, a church or friend. There are so many adoption agencies ready to help find that little baby a beautiful home. I know so many couples who would give anything to have a baby. Who sacrifice every penny they can find in order to become parents.

There is SO MUCH GOOD in this world. Let’s help make it even better by lifting our voices in support of LIFE. There is nothing like hearing a baby make it’s first cry after birth. It is the closest I believe I have ever felt to heaven. Even while I have been in the throws of labor, when I would hear a first cry from a neighboring room, I couldn’t help but be moved to tears of joy for that little LIFE that just began.

My last rainbow baby, Lillian

And I would also like to share that you are not alone in your challenges. God doesn’t leave us alone. We sometimes walk away, but He is constant. He is our strength if we let Him. You are loved more than you know. There is a scripture in Isaiah that I love, It’s Isaiah 41:13 “For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.” We don’t need to be afraid when we face challenges. Trust God. He will be right there holding your hand.

We have the privilege of giving the gift of life. I hope that we all ponder on the miracle and weight of the responsibility. Sometimes our challenges seem so overwhelming because we’re not sure how it’s going to come out in the end. There’s another scripture that can give us hope! In Roman’s 8:28 it says, “And we know that ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD to them that LOVE GOD, to them who are called according to His purpose.” Things are going to be ok. God wants us to be HAPPY! He really does. Choosing LIFE will bring happiness.

I love you all. Thank you for reading my words. Hugs!

Life is Good. Share the Good.
