I’m so excited to have Annie from @milkshakes.and.makeup share one of her favorite recipes today! I made this last week and WOW so good! Check out her recipe and follow her on Instagram and Facebook!
I’m not joking when I wrote out this title. Every. Single. Time. I serve this, or bring it to a mom who just had a baby, I am asked for the recipe. I honestly just sit back and wait for the text to come in. And then I happily share it because it is JUST THAT GOOD! My friend shared this recipe with me a few years ago, and since that time I haven’t been able to buy a bottle or packet of alfredo, or even order it at restaurants. Nothing compares! I can’t go back because I’ve been so spoiled by this sauce.
I serve it for nearly every dinner party and with summer here, we host often and this is a popular request. It’s PERFECT for this because it’s super simple to make and it’s not a pricey meal at all.
Here is how it’s done:
1/2 C butter
2 TBS cream cheese
2 C heavy cream
salt and pepperGarlic powder
2/3 C Shredded parmesan cheese
Pasta of choice (we love bowtie!)
Cooked, shredded chicken breast, seasoned as you wishThis recipe serves 4-6 people depending on how big of eaters you have. 🙂
For the chicken, I usually throw a couple thawed chicken breasts in my mini crockpot on low for 4-6 hours. I love to season it with Lawry’s, Pappy’s or Johnny’s and that seems to go well with the sauce. You can do frozen chicken breasts as well, just account for more crock pot time or bump the settings to high heat. Rotisserie chicken also works well!
I LOVE to shred chicken in my KitchenAid. It saves me a good half hour and saves my hands from being gouged to death from my forks! If you have not done this trick – you have got to try it! It’s the best. Just watch it carefully because over shredding in this way is possible and it can become mushy. It requires a VERY short amount of time on the lowest setting.
For the sauce – In a medium sized sauce pan, melt the butter. When it is melted, add in the cream cheese and melt it as well. Once it melts, pour in the heavy cream, stir well and then let it simmer for about 15 minutes. After simmering, season it to your taste. Don’t be shy with the garlic and salt and pepper! It’s gooood stuff. After seasoning, add the parmesan and stir it in until it’s all melted and combined.
(If it looks like a whole lot of butter and cream – you’re doing it right!) 😉
Serve over pasta and with breadsticks of choice – but if you have a Pizza Factory near you – it’s well worth grabbing a to-go order of their bread twists and having those as your side! They are the perfect pair!
Let me also just add – do not try to make this recipe in a more healthy way… I know some of you may look at this recipe and think WOW that’s a lot of fat and cream, and it is. Just EMBRACE it and enjoy how good it tastes for this meal. This sauce is meant to be this way and I say you just go big or go home on this one!!
If you try this recipe – I gotta know how much you love it! You can find me on Instagram @milkshakes.and.makeup where I share a lot more food that isn’t a whole lot healthy, and a little of the healthy stuff too. 🙂 I’m also usually hanging out doing natural looking makeup tips and tricks, family fun and date ideas, and just trying to keep my toddler alive/happy/tiny forever.
Thanks for reading, and thanks Emma for having me!!!!!
Thank you Annie so much for sharing this recipe! I know I will be making this a lot from now on!
I thought I would share my photo of this recipe–I had to try it!– and the seasoning that I am now IN LOVE WITH. It’s always nice to mix your weekly recipes up. And Annie’s not kidding when you need plenty of the seasonings! Don’t be afraid.:)
I love using my grill in the summer and I have just discovered this amazing seasoning! So if you have some olive oil, a lime and Himalayan Pink Salt Black Pepper and Garlic, your family will thank you! It makes the BEST chicken according to my almost 16 year old son.
And if you also happen to have sweet potatoes, cover them in olive oil and sprinkle generously this seasoning-then grill 3-4 minutes on each side. I recommend slicing a little larger slices, because some of mine met their doom in the fire of the grill!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend making memories!

And Annie is SO AMAZING with her make-up tutorials! She’s also so kind and fun! I had the opportunity to meet her a few months ago and you will love following her.
PPS I also think that I would double the sauce recipe for how much pasta my family eats.:)
